A bag of wind

He is a talkative and boastful person who tells stories, usually about himself and his supposed exploits and accomplishments, that are mostly untrue.  

“He likes to tell stories about the war and how he fought enemy forces as a soldier, but his mother says he never joined the army. He is nothing but a bag of wind.”
